Vulvar vestibule

The vulvar vestibule is the area at the entrance of the vagina, bordered by the inner labia. This is where the vaginal opening, the urethral opening, and the ducts of several small lubricating glands are located. Rich in nerve endings, this region is sensitive to touch and plays a role in lubrication and in passage during penetration. When localized pain appears precisely in this area, especially on contact or insertion, it is called vestibulodynia. Knowing this area helps you better describe any uncomfortable sensations and talk about them more easily.
